Quotation of American Fundamental Values

By: Indira Agustin/071012006

I was born an American; I will live an American; I shall die an American

Daniel Webster (1782-1852)

Daniel Webster was an US diplomat, lawyer, orator, and politician. He was an candidate of US President in 1836 and being the Secretary of States in 1841-1843 and 1850 and 1852. This quotation he told in his speech on July, 17th 1850

From that quotation, we might learn about patriotism. Webster was born as an American, will live also an American, and will die as an American too. In his complete speech, he said that his purpose of life is his country, God, and the Truth.

It means that Webster was so patriotic and it is good to be applied as the fundamental value of our country too. Which patriotism emerge the loyalty and defend to the country. If we had applied the patriotism as our fundamental value, it will be good for us in other fields; for the very simple example is using the local products, which is means that we love what is it in our country.
